  • Waxy Refresh: The End of Playfic After 14 years, I decided to retire Playfic, an online community for writing and sharing interactive fiction made with Inform 7. All the games will stay online indefinitely.
  • Waxy Refresh: Supercut.org Continuing my series of updating old side projects, I gave Supercut.org a big refresh, plus some notes on the sad state of Vimeo.
  • A Little Waxy Refresh I updated Waxy.org's design over the last few weeks, part of a series of updates to some of my long-dormant projects.
  • The Wholesale Plagiarism of Obscure Sorrows Without permission, a marketing agency republished the entirety of John Koenig's Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows book, replacing its art with AI slop and adding new AI words. Their unauthorized site now ranks higher than the real one everywhere.
  • Big Walk and the magic of proximity chat Big Walk is out on August 4, the new game from Untitled Goose Game creators House House, an open world inspired by pandemic lockdowns and the constraints of proximity voice chat.
  • Tiny Awards 2026 nominations are open For the fourth time, nominations for this year's Tiny Awards celebrating the "best of the small, poetic, creative, handmade web" are open.
  • LEGO Batman’s Commodore 64 BASIC easter egg
  • Launching a permanent archive for XOXO We launched a permanent archive for all eight years of XOXO, along with some ridiculous merch, and we're really proud of it.

  • The XOXO 2024 Talks We published all the talks from the final XOXO, possibly the best day of talks we've ever had. I wrote a bit about how we booked speakers and the themes that emerged this year.
  • Kind of Bloop 15th Anniversary Vinyl Kind of Bloop is getting a surprise vinyl reissue for its 15th anniversary, the weird little chiptune album that changed my life.
  • The Quiet Death of Ello’s Big Dreams Ello launched in 2014 with big dreams, but the artsy social network suddenly shut down last year, deleting nine years of posts without warning. What happened?
